“Xiaomi is barred from selling Media Tek-powered devices in
India”
A bad news for Xiaomi lovers of India, The Brand has no
plans to launch the Redmi Note 2 in India.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 runs on Media Tek X10 processor,
and the company is barred from selling or importing devices powered by Media
Tek SoCs in India due to an Ericsson patent infringement lawsuit.
Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi Note 2 smartphone along
with MIUI 7 and Redmi 2 prime in china.
The phone turned out to be a huge success for the company. It
has sold a record breaking 800,000 phones within 12 hours during its first sale.
A Xiaomi spokesperson told BGR India, “We are continuously
evaluating new products that can be launched in India. But, as of now we don’t have
any plan to launch Redmi Note 2 in India.”
So no matter the demand for it might be in market, is not
allowed to be sold in India.
